Privacy

Short version: your postcode and your design stay in your browser, and we don't use cookies.

Your postcode

When you check an address, your browser downloads the file for the first half of your postcode (for example "SW1A") from data.planningtoolkit.co.uk and finds your postcode in it on your own device. The full postcode is never sent to us or to anyone else. Our server can see which first half was requested, which covers thousands of addresses.

Maps load map tiles from tiles.planningtoolkit.co.uk for the area on screen, so the server can see roughly which area you looked at, as with any online map. No third-party map service is used.

Your design

The figures you type are checked in your browser. They are remembered in your browser's local storage so they're there when you come back. Clearing your browser's site data removes them. Nothing you type is sent to us.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or track you across sites. It counts page views, and shows us which pages are used and how fast they load.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. As with any website, Cloudflare's servers see your IP address and the pages and files your browser requests, to deliver them and keep the site secure. They never see the full postcode or the figures you type, because those never leave your browser.

Email

If you email us to report a mistake, we use your email only to reply and fix the rule, and delete it once that's done.
